Got Questions about Downloading and Extracting?
This is for XP users, as it uses the extraction wizard in Windows Explorer / My computer. If you do not have XP, click here
For Objects:
On the webpage, click on the object you want to download. A dialogue box, such as the one shown below will appear. (You may need to right click on the link to the object, and select "save target as" to do this, which takes you to the next step)

Save it in C:\program files\maxis\The Sims\Downloads, if your game is installed on the C:/ drive. If it is installed on a different drive, substitute the letter of the hard drive your sims is installed on, in place of the "C"

The file will start downloading. Once the file has finished downloading, hit open.
Then, click the button marked “extract all files,” as shown below:
Press the button marked next three times, until you get to the screen on the right: (sorry, the screen captures here aren't wonderful)

This screen tells you, that if you have followed the tutorial this far, that your objects should now show up in the game.
You may close the folder of the object you downloaded, ie. the window brought up at the completion of extracting
Notes:
If the object is complicated, and there is more than one file, you should read the readme attached, and follow those directions as well.
This may involve moving skins to the skins folder, globals to the globals folder, or floors to the floor folder. These folders can be found under c:\program files\The Sims\Gamedata as shown:
