Various Tips for Makin' Magic - Magic Children

Here is an easy way to answer your questions about kids and magic in the last expansion for Sims1 Magic and Sim Children First, if you have magic kids, I suggest you get the magic cabinet from Get Cool Stuff (from the sims site) right away. If your adult sims BUY the ingredients, they can put them in this cabinet and kids can take them out.

In order to do magic, kids need the yellow two headed newt wand/charm charger. They get a wand out of it by selecting "add to inventory" and EVERY kid in the household can do this! WARNING: Do not let the kids get the magicoins out of the box from the Mystery Man! If your kid picks up magicoins they will carry them around forever! I have tried and tried but kids can not put magicoins into the magic cabinet. If you really want them to get things for themselves, use almost only the toadstool chairs so where ever house members sit, they sit on one! Sooner or later you will start to get toadstools in the yard for kids and adults to harvest.

Dragons for kids I don't recommend dragons most of the time, but here too, if you want the kids to get things for themselves, get one. These are sold as dragon nests by Vicki Vampiress in MagicTown. If you don't have the 49 Magicoins you need for it, it will not show up. When you get the dragon home, ignore it and you will get a "burnie" which should be set free right away if you want your sims to survive! Handle it 6 to 12 (is it 10 or 12?) times and you should get a Pyriti... or yellow/gold dragon. This one is fairly nice and doesn't USUALLY burn things. If you handle the egg more than 12 times you get a Torch. It is more likely to burn things than a Pyriti, but less than a Burnie. Dragons eat Maxis flowers... I mean the ones in build mode that are in squares: Tulips, daffodils, wildflowers, poppies, etc. Supposedly they prefer daffodils, but some of the dragons prefer other flowers. They also eat rubbish, plates of food on the floor and toads, including toadified human Sims so be careful!

How do the kids get the dragon tears and dragon scales? Well, now that you have a dragon, have the child tickle it for tears and groom it for scales. It can take a LOT of interactions before you get anything so be patient. Faerie Dust For the faerie dust you have the child play with the Visions of Sugarplums toy box. If they play enough they will get faerie dust. You get a message that they got it and your child has to find it and pick it up.
